An early welcome my friends to cricket 2012.
The birds are beginning to sing in the trees, cricket squares are being rolled and mown and 'doosras' and 'teesras' are being spun by'snake charmers'.in the Gulf. It reminds me that Tony Wharton claims to have bowled a maiden over to an ex Test batsman in Dubai but nobody saw it because a red, windy sandstorm covered the ground.
Thanks to Match Managers, Captains and Secretaries the County fixture lists are now available on the web site - click here to see the fixture list These matches will provide good, competitive and social cricket for our five Hampshire sides at 50+ 60+ and 70+ levels and I hope for continued success for all these teams. I note that whilst Devon and Cornwall are away this season our friends from the Channel Islands visit us this year.
I'm very pleased that we are giving the 50+ side the chance of revenge against the 60+ XI in Stan Rudder's match on 5th August in Havant Park . We also welcome Havant Wednesday to our fixture list in September 2012.
May I just say here that all of you cricketers who have tickets for the Olympic games in August 2012 are likely to be playing Oxford or Kent in the knock- out rounds that month should ring me to discuss.
Net practices are all arranged for March onwards - click here for details on web site and our AGM will take place at the Rosebowl on Wed.14th March 2012.
The Seniors Annual Awards Dinner is scheduled for autumn 2012 I also recommend all you good cricketers who play golf to join Trevor Foreman's Golf Meetings in the Spring and Autumn. Details on site. These are reallyenjoyable days.
" And you need a cricket tour, you really do" The Club is planning a wonderful tour to New Zealand for 2013 which will be excellent value at an excellent price. I should like to offer a very warm thank you to all our umpires and scorers and to Brian Hart for the fine web site.
Finally, I hope that all knees and hips are in good working order and that your season 2012 is a great one.
