Hampshire v Cornwall
Hampshire made the long trip to Bude to face Cornwall needing to win following their surprise defeat by Wiltshire earlier in the week - a small ground, quick outfield with superb panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean & North Cornwall coastline.
Cornwall won the toss and batted with openers Cock & Harvey putting on 111 before Andy Yorke made the breakthrough. A controlled spell of bowling by Yorke, well supported by Jim Smallbone kept the Cornwall top order in check - both took stunning return catches. It was only in the latter stages that Cornwall were able to increase the tempo, finally posting 239-6.
Hampshire paced their reply well, John Harris Geoff Owen & Mike Swain all making positive contributions as they steadily overhauled their target with nearly 3 overs to spare.
Hampshire have batted well this season losing only 10 wickets in 3 games played to date. The big test will now come on Wed 21 June when they face the Channel Isles at Hursley Park 1pm.
