Hampshire v Wiltshire
Hampshire Seniors were the victims of a shock upset at Bashley against a gritty Wiltshire side who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in a dramatic finish. Hampshire batted first and steadily compiled what should have been a winning score.
Useful contributions from openers John Harris 33 and Geoff Owen 54 provided a good start. A fine innings from Mike Swain 84 with good support from skipper Alan Wright 36 & Martin Hall 25 not out saw Hampshire close on 256-4.Wiltshire lost wickets regularly and after 27 overs stood at 100-4 with only opener Newport, who eventually made a patient 71 providing real resistance. However this all changed when Mynott came to the wicket - he dispatched the Hampshire bowling to all parts.
Wickets continued to fall leaving Wiltshire at 230-9 but Mynott 103 not out, contrived to see the visitors home completing a brilliant match winning century off only 59 balls in the final over. Hampshire now visit Cornwall on Sunday for a must win game if they are to qualify from the Group stages of the Competition.
