HAMPSHIRE V DORSET

Hampshire 206 for 7 (I Britton 63, S Lent 66, C Handley 30)

Dorset 142 for 6 ( N Trapp 26-3)

Hampshire won by 64 runs

We won the toss and elected to bat. We began a 42 overs match with Ian Britton blasting 63 in 56 balls, and Steve Lent building to 66 in 66 balls, followed by Colin Handley 30 in 30 balls. Dorsets fielding tinkering was taking so long that after 22 overs the match was reduced to 40 overs so we could field in day light. Our next 4 batsmen fell trying to pile on the runs. We were confident at 206 off 40 overs and took tea.

I managed to get revenge for the expensive teas at our first meeting. Trevor Forman (9-4-18-0) and Barry Newton (8-1-21-1) strangled Dorsets openers and enabled Nigel Trapp (9-1-26-3) and Peter Doust (7-0-27-2) to put the result beyond doubt. I then bowled (4-0-11-0) with Robert Sullivan (3-0-13-0) to end the match with Dorset 64 runs short and 3 players didn’t get to bat!

That makes 5 wins from 5 games.

Thanks to Dick Batchelor –for scoring.
