HAMPSHIRE v BERKSHIRE

Hampshire continued their winning streak in their game against Berkshire under the sunny skies at Petersfield on June 26th. Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat on what proved to be a good batting wicket. In their total of 270 for 5 a good foundation was laid by the opening partnership of Owen and Blackey who put on 96 before Blackey was out for 44. Owen went on to make an excellent hundred before “Nelson” got him on 111. Martin Hall made a quick 37 including four sixes and Swain added a further 48.

In reply Berkshire made 231 for 7 – their 3rd. highest scorer being “Wides” who made a significant contribution of 32! Smallbone not only bowled well (9-0-37-2) but he also had two very good catches. The other bowlers were: S. Rudder (9-0-40-2), J. Hall (9-0-46-1), S. Hicks (5-0-26-0), M. Swain (8-0-44-0) and G. Collins ( 5-0-32-1). Another pleasing win!
